- 1 c. margarine
- 2 c. brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2½ c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 c. quick cooking rolled oats
- 1 (15 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 2 T. margarine
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
- 2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350º.

In a large bowl, cream 1 c. margarine and brown sugar. Beat in eggs and 2 tsp. of vanilla. Soft together flour, soda, and 1 tsp. salt. Stir in oats. Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture until blended. Set aside.

In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt together sweetened milk, chocolate pieces, remaining margarine, and salt, stirring until smooth. Stir in nuts and remaining vanilla.

Pat ⅔ of oat mixture into the bottom of a 15x10½x1" baking pan. Spread chocolate mixture over dough. Dot with remaining oat mixture.

Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool. Cut into 2x1" bars.
