2¼ cup walnuts
2 cups white sugar
½ cup water
½ cup light corn syrup
1 cup butter
One 6 ounce package semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Coarsely chop 1½ cups walnuts for toffee. Finely chop ¾ cup walnuts for topping.

Combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and butter. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Cover and cook five minutes. Uncover and boil to hard crack stage, 300º.

Remove from heat, stir in coarsely chopped walnuts and quickly spread in a buttered 10X15X1 inch pan. Let stand until set, but still hot/warm. Sprinkle chocolate chips over toffee and spread over the toffee when melted. Sprinkle with the finely chopped walnuts.

Let stand until completely cooled and then break into pieces. Makes about 2 pounds 10 ounces of candy.
