Preheat oven to 350º

To make crust/dough cut 1 stick softened butter into 1 cup flour using pastry blender or two knives. It should be pea sized chunks. On a floured board, roll dough into strip 3-4” wide and place on cookie sheet.

In saucepan over high heat, bring 1 cup water and 1 stick butter to boil. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup flour. Mix until smooth. Beat in eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until no more egg is visible. Stir in almond extract. Spread over crust/dough.

Bake in preheated oven for 55-60 minutes. Pastry will fall a bit as it cools.
