Ingredients: 1 Tbsp Olive Oil or Canola Oil 2 LB Beef Stew Meat, or Steak, cubed, patted dry 1 Cup Onion, diced 2 Cups Water 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce, low sodium 1/4 Cup Worcestershire Sauce 1 Tsp Garlic Powder 1 Tsp Black Pepper 1 Pkg Brown Gravy Mix, dry 2-3 Tbsp Cornstarch 1/4-1/3 Cup Water

Directions:Turn instant pot to saute. When hot add in oil and swirl it around. Add in beef and brown 3-5 minutes, stirring to get all sides. Add onions and saute about 4 minutes until soft. Remove to plate. Turn pot off. Add in water and scrape off any bits on the bottom. Pour in soy sauce, worcestershire, garlic and pepper. Add steak/onions. Cover and secure lid. set balve to sealing. Set to manual pressure cook 20 minutes. When time is up let sit unvented (natural release) 10-20 minutes then vent and remove lid. Turn to saute and whisk in the gravy mix. Mix together the cornstarch and water. Add to pot and stir. Cook until thickened. Serve over potatoes or noodles, as desired.
Tip: to make in the slow cooker, brown beef in oil in frying pan then transfer to slow cooker. Top with onions. Mix rest of ingredients except cornstarch and water and add to slow cooker. Stir. Cook on low 6-8 hours. When done mix cornstarch and water, stir in and let cook without lid on high until thickened. |
