1 c. sugar (or less)
1 c. margarine or butter, softened
2 eggs
½ c. buttermilk
1 c. ripe bananas (about 3), mashed
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all purpose flour
1 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
1½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

Heat oven to 350º F. Grease 9x13 pan.

In a large bowl, combine sugar, margarine, and eggs; mix well. Stir in buttermilk, bananas, and vanilla; blend well.

Stir in flour, oats, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.

Spread batter in greased pan. Sprinkle nuts evenly over top, if desired. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
