5 lb ground beef
4 large onions, diced
1 T salt
1 T pepper
1/4 c A1 Steak Sauce
1/4 c Worcestershire sauce
2 T garlic,minced

Pie Crust:
1 1/2 c flour
1/3 c COLD water
3/4 to 1 c chilled Shortening

Directions:

Mix all the above ingredients together well.

1/4 to 1/2 cup of the meat mix per rolled out pie crust circle. Fold edges together and press with a fork to seal. Egg wash to tops.

Bake at 350º for 55 minutes and tops are golden brown. Remove from pan and cool on a rack.

Serve hot, options for toppings, ketchup, brown gravy with mushrooms. You can also make finger pasties which are 2 inches in diameter.

Pie Crust:
Mix flour and shortening together, cut in shortening with a pastry blender, til crumbly. Add water a sprinkle at a time, until it makes a dough; just til it holds together.

On a floured surface; roll dough ball ( 4-5" diameter ball) to 3/8's inch thick.

Fill and bake.

These freeze well, you do not have to thaw before baking.

These were sandwiches the miners carried in their lunch pails.
