1 lb. ziti
32. oz sauce (I like Ragu old world sweet tomato basil)
16 oz. additional sauce (for bottom of pan and top of ziti)
16 oz. ricotta cheese
1 egg
1 lb. mozzarella cheese (cubed)
12 oz. mozzarella cheese (shredded)
1½ lbs. meat (1 lb. ground beef and ½ lb. bulk sausage)
garlic cloves

Directions:

Sauce - brown meat: saute garlic and then add some Italian seasonings. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes until flavors are incorporated.

Cook pasta al dente. Drain pasta and combine with sauce/meat mixture and then add the cubed mozzarella cheese. Mix well.

Mix ricotta and egg together in a separate dish.

Put a thin layer of plain sauce on bottom of baking dish.

Put ½ of the ziti mixture in the baking dish.

Spread the ricotta mixture on top of the ziti.

Put the remainder of the ziti mixture on top of the ricotta.

Put a thin layer of plain tomato sauce on top of the ziti.

Spread the shredded mozzarella on top of the sauce.

Cover baking dish. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes or until top is browned.
