1 1/3 C all-purpose flour
2 tsp double-acting baking powder
1 tsp chopped parsley or 1/8 tsp thyme leaves or savory
½ tsp salt
2/3 C milk
2 T salad oil

ABOUT 30 MINUTES BEFORE SERVING:
In large bowl, with fork, stir flour and next 3 ingredients until mixed. In cup, combine milk with salad oil; slowly stir into flour mixture just until mixture forms soft dough (stir as little as possible). Drop dough by heaping Tablespoonful’s onto pieces of chicken, meat or vegetables in simmering stew in Dutch oven or kettle.

Cook dumplings 10 minutes, uncovered; then cover and cook 10 minutes more. With slotted spoon, remove dumplings from stew. Spoon stew into serving dish; top with dumplings
