3/4 c. shortening
1 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. molasses
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 c. (at least) raisins

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar. Beat in molasses. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt and cloves; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in raisins.
Drop by rounded tbsps. 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375º for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks covered in aluminum foil to cool.
