2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1/2 Cup Cocoa
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1 Cup (2 sticks) Butter, softened (Or use Butter Flavored Crisco)
1 Cup Light Brown Sugar, firmly packed
2/3 Cup granulated Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Cup chopped walnuts or pecans (Optional)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
3. In a mixer bowl, cream butter and sugars together; then beat in eggs one at a time. Add Vanilla.
4. On low speed, add flour mixture a little at a time until well blended. Don't overmix!
5. If you are using nuts this would be the time to stir them in.
6. Drop cookie dough onto greased baking sheet by rounded tablespoons about 2 inches apart.
7. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes, or until set.
8. Cool on cookie sheet for about 5 minutes then transfer to cooling racks.

Makes about 4 - 5 dozen cookies.
