½ cup butter or margarine
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
1½ cups raisins (optional)
¾ cup milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups (1 pound) baking gum drops (found in baking aisle)

Cream together the butter, sugar and eggs. Add the remaining ingredients. Bake in a regular cake pan at 350° for approximately 30 minutes. Ice with vanilla or chocolate icing.
