3 lbs apples
Juice of 1 lemon
1 T cornstarch
1/2 c sugar
1/4 t cinnamon
1/8 t nutmeg
1 c flour
1/2 c brown sugar
Pinch of salt
6 T unsalted butter, chilled
1/4 c sliced almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Peel, core and slice apples and toss with the lemon juice. Mix cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; add to apples and toss. Arrange in a 1 1/12 quart baking dish. Mix flour, brown sugar, salt and butter with fingertips until crumbly. Combine with almonds and sprinkle over apples. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve in a bowl as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
