1 1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
3 tablespoons water
1 cup coarsely chopped toasted almonds
4 (4 1/2 oz.) milk chocolate bars, melted
1 cup finely chopped toasted almonds

Line a 13x9x2-inch baking pan with foil, extending foil over edges of pan.

In saucepan melt butter. Add sugar, water, and corn syrup. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until mixture boils. Clip a candy thermometer to side of pan. Reduce heat to medium; continue boiling at a moderate, steady rate, stirring frequently, till thermometer registers 290 degree F, soft-crack stage (about 15 minutes). Remove saucepan from heat; remove thermometer. Quickly add 1 cup chopped toasted almonds. Spread candy into the prepared pan. Cool thoroughly.

Turn candy out on waxed paper. Spread top with half the melted chocolate and half the finely chopped nuts. Cover with wax paper, invert. Spread with remaining chocolate and finely chopped nuts. When firm, crack into pieces.
