10 soda crackers
1 cup nuts--I use walnuts
3 egg whites, beaten
dash of salt
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Grind crackers and nuts.
Add sugar to beaten eggs and beat again until fairly firm. Add vanilla and baking powder, and salt. Stir in crackers and nuts.
Pour into well buttered 9" pie plate. Bake at 350º for 20 minutes.

This is an old recipe from my Mother. I still use the old nut grinder that we had at the ranch. Ice cream, chocolate sauce, any kind of berry and whipped cream are good toppings for this. It looks sort of like meringue.
