2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
egg yolk
milk

egg white

1/2 cup crushed cornflakes

8-10 apples
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup sugar

Icing:
1 tsp water
1/2 tsp vanilla
icing sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cut shortening into flour and salt. Mix egg yolk with enough milk to make 2/3 cup of liquid. Add to flour mixture and mix slightly till flour mixed in. Roll out into 2 sheets the size of your cookie sheet. Lay first sheet of pastry into cookie sheet. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with cornflakes. Peel apples and cut into slices, toss with cinnamon and sugar and lay into cookie sheet. Cover with remaining pastry sheet and brush with remaining egg white. Bake at 375º for 30 minutes.

Mix water and vanilla with enough icing sugar to make an icing that can be drizzled all over slightly warm bars. Cut into desired sizes......

Baba made these for us everything she came to visit. The only time we didn't get any was the time the raccoons stole them before they cooled. They probably never ate anything so good in their lives!!!
