Ingredients:
Ingredients:
20 pears, peeled, cored and quartered
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. each of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg (can use allspice, too)
1 Tbsp. lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Put pears in food processor and chop until they have the consistency of applesauce. You should have about 2 quarts. Pour into crockpot and add other ingredients. Cook on low for about 8 hours or overnight. It will reduce by about half . Then take lid off , stir and let it cook another hour. (Because it will splatter as it cooks, I just propped the lid open with a wooden spoon to let the steam out so it would thicken.) Then you can pour the hot pear butter into hot canning jars and seal or let it cool and refrigerate it. It is so good on hot biscuits!
