1/3 cup butter
2 1/4 cups sifted flour
1 tbsp sugar
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in 13 x 9" baking dish (as oven heats to 450º)

Stir flour, sugar, baking powder, salt together. Add milk and stir with fork until dough just clings (about 30 strokes)

Turn on well floured board and knead about 10 times

Roll 1/2 inches thick into a rectangle

With well-floured knife, cut in half lengthwise and then in about 16 strips across

Dip each biscuit in the butter on each side and bake till golden brown

You can add 1/2 cup of grated sharp cheese to dry ingredients and proceed.
You can also add 1/2 clove of finely minced garlic to melted butter and proceed.
Or, add 2 tbsps sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon over biscuits prior to baking

Bake at 450º for 15-20 minutes until golden brown, serve hot
