2½ cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbls sugar
1 cup shortening (part butter)
2 eggs, separated
milk, to make 2/3 cup with egg yolks
1 cup (or more) corn flakes or Rice Krispies
8 apples
1 cup sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbls lemon juice
2 tbls soft butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons sugar and shortening like pie crust. Put egg yolk in a cup; add enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to flour mixture. Roll 1/2 of it first; place in a jelly-roll pan. Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar and mix. Add salt cinnamon, and lemon juice; add butter. Crumble over apples. Cover with last crust. Whip egg whites until frothy; spread over crust. Bake 1 hour at 325°F. Drizzle with a thin powdered sugar icing while still warm.
Note:If crust is hard to handle, roll out in thirds and pat together.
