1 cup shortening ( can use 1/2 butter)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp b. soda

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir flour, salt and soda together. Blend in. Mix thoroughly with your hands. Divide dough into 3 parts: shape into rolls, 1 1/2 inch in diameter and about 7 " long. Roll in colored sugar. Chill several hours or overnight. Heat over to 400º'
Cut cookie roll into 1/4" slices, bake 8-10 minutes.
