1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 T butter
2 T water
1 C walnut halves

1 head lettuce, chopped (I use some Romaine)
2 pears, sliced
1/2 c. gorgonzola (or Blue) cheese

1/4 c. mayo (not lite)
1.4 c. Pure Maple syrup
1/2 c. Vegetable Oil
3 T Cider vinegar
2 tsp. brown sugar
1 tsp maple flavoring

Directions:

For candied walnuts: Place the sugar, butter and water in a skillet and melt sugar. Add the walnuts and simmer on medium until the nuts are coated. Cool on a baking sheet. Break apart.

For salad: Toss lettuce with pears and cheese.

For dressing: Mix all ingredients in a blender and mix until thickened. Drizzle on salad as desired and toss on the nuts just before serving.

I usually make individual salads in bowl for this recipe and let everyone add their own dressing. If you have a large group it may be better to toss the salad but still pass the dressing and add the nuts at the time it is served as this doesn't keep well. It is really delicious, though!
