2 cups sifted flour
4 teas. baking powder
1/2 teas. salt
1/2 teas. cream of tartar
2 teas. sugar
1/2 cups shortening
3/4 cup milk


Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk all at once. Stir dough, follow fork around bowl. Turn out on lightly floured surface. Knead gently 1/2 minute. Pat to 1/2 inch thick, cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on un-greased pan in hot oven (450 degrees) for 10 to 12 minutes.
