3/4 C. shortening
1 C. sugar
1 egg
1/4 C. molasses
2 C. flour, sifted
2 t. soda
1/4 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
3/4 t. ground cloves
3/4 t. ground ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Blend well together sugar, egg and molasses. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and ginger. Form batter into balls the size of a walnut. Roll in granulated sugar. Place 2" apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 15 minutes in 350 degree oven. Makes 3 dozen.
