1 Large sweet onion
1/2 stick of butter with 3 T.flour
2T. Butter
5 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup white wine
Salt and pepper to taste
6 slices of French bread
1 cup shredded Swiss or Gruyere cheese

Directions:
Directions:
1. Heat butter in large pot then sprinkle flour and mix well.
2. Saute onion in butter until wilted and clear and then add to flour/butter mixture.
3. Add broth and wine, bring to a boil, then simmer.
4. Place slices of bread on bottom of large casserole or ovenproof tureen.
5. Top bread with shredded cheese.
6. Pour in hot soup.
7. Bake at 350 degrees for a half hour or until cheese bubbles and crusts.
8. Serve and enjoy with the rest of the bottle of wine.
