Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 pound lettuce
2 slices bacon chopped and cooked (save grease)
1 small onion sliced
1/2t. salt
1tsp. sugar
1T. vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
I found this recipe with Granny's hand writing. She said 1/2 pound lettuce. I would assume that she meant half head of lettuce.
Cook the bacon and set aside. Add vinegar, sugar salt to grease and cook a few minutes until sugar is dissolved. Here again, this is really not enough liquid to pour over the chopped lettuce. I would say 1/4c. sugar,1/4c. vinegar, 1/4c. water 1t. salt. Put bacon back in and
Pour this cooked dressing over the chopped lettuce and sliced onions. Cover and let lettuce wilt.

Personal Notes:
Granny made this all the time with her steak and gravy. I'm so glad I have her hand writing with the recipe on it.
