4 ounces good quality dark chocolate, chopped
1 whole dried chili pepper
2 cups whole milk
1 cinnamon stick

Directions:
Directions:
Place chopped chocolate in small stainless steel bowl. Set aside.
Cut chili pepper open lengthwise. Combine milk, chili pepper and cinnamon stick in saucepan. Bring just to a boil.
Pour milk over the chopped chocolate, using a sieve to keep the chili pepper fragments out of the mixture. Whisk vigorously until chocolate is melted and milk is frothy. Pour into preheated mugs.

The Cocoa Tree chocolatier appeared in Downtown Franklin soon after the movie Chocolat was released. It was the perfect example of life imitating art. This recipe is the essence of that movie, and quite delicious.
I made it for one of Ethan's anthropology classes at the College of Charleston, and it's no wonder he got an "A" on that project :)
