1 pkg. yeast
2 c. warm water
2 tbsp. sugar
Crisco - size of an egg
4 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
6 c. flour (Daily Bread plain)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve 2 tbsp. sugar into warm water and add yeast and dissolve. Let mixture stand 5 minutes.
Add to mixture- Crisco, 4 tbsp. of sugar and 1 tbsp. of salt. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Let dough rise 2 hrs. or until double in bulk. Squeeze into rolls and place into greased 9x13 pan.
Let rise 1 hr. Bake at 200 for 15 minutes then 400º until done. When rolls start to brown brush tops with Crisco and this will keep them soft.

Nanny always wrapped her rolls in a clean tablecloth.There was no need to worry about keeping them fresh because there were never any left over.
