3 cups peeled, sliced, fresh fruit such as apples, peaches, or berries
3/4 c sugar
2 Tbsp all purpose flour
2 Tbsp butter, chopped
1 cup all purpose flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 c shortening, softened
1/4 c milk
1 egg

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Arrange fruit in a 9 inch square pan. In small bowl, combine 3/4 c sugar and 2 Tbsp flour; sprinkle over fruit in pan. Dot with butter. In large bowl, combine 1 c flour, 2 Tbsp sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in shortening. Add milk and egg, stirring until blended. Drop by rounded tablespoonsfuls onto fruit, arranging in circle, and leaving center open. Bake 40 min. Serve warm.
