1 qt. vinegar
1 tbsp. whole clove
1 tbsp. whole allspice
1 tbsp. mace
1 qt. sugar
sticks of cinnamon
young carrots

Directions:
Directions:
Boil carrots until skins slip remove sins slice or leave whole. Put spices in bag and tie off. Bring vinegar, sugar and spices to a boil and pour over carrots. Let stand over night then bring to boil for 5 minutes. Remove spices and pack into sterilized jars filling jars to 1/2 inch from top with spiced hot syrup and then seal.

The recipe was found among Grandma Clara Ready's recipes. It could have been one handed down from her mother but the recipe does not note this fact.
