Ingredients:
Ingredients:
“Dutch” Pigs in the Blankets
1 c. butter
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 cups flour
1 c. milk
3 lbs. sausage (any kind of breakfast sausage you like works fine)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend butter and dry ingredients with forks or pastry blender. Add milk and mix. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness. Make 30 strips approx. 3-4 inches wide. Divide sausage into thirds. Make 10 “pigs” out of each of the three sections. Wrap each “pig” in a section of the dough, over-lapping at the bottom. Prick the top with a fork. Bake on a cookie sheet for 30 minutes.
These may be frozen uncooked, bake the frozen ones for 45 minutes. I make them up on a cookie sheet and freeze them. Once frozen you can separate them and divide into any number you want.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
John’s grandma made these at Christmastime and he has many happy memories of her and her pigs. Unfortunately, she past away before anyone learned the recipe. I spent several years experimenting before I came up with these. Now we make them every Christmas, too.
