2 cups brown sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda in a little water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift three times, flour, cream of tartar and salt. Cream together butter, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Mold into two rolls. Put in refrigerator overnight then cut into 1 inch slices. Bake at 350º until done.

This recipe was passed down to me from my Mom. One of my greatest memories is making these cookies at Christmas time with my children. Mixing, cutting and decorating. So much joy.
