1 cup raisins boiled in 1 cup water for 2 minutes
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup oil
2 eggs
1 tsp soda
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Drain raisins reserving 1 cup of the juice. Separate egg whites. Beat together egg yolks, sugar, margarine & oil. Mix baking soda in the raisin juice, add to mixture. Mix flour, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and baking powder. Add to mixture 1/2 at a time, beat well. Beat egg whites, Add raisins to the mixture then fold in egg whites. Bake in a 9x13 pan at 350º until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about 40 minutes

This was my Mother in Law's recipe, it was my husband's favorite cake along with all of our children.
