1/4 cup poppy seeds
1 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup shortening
4 eggs separated
1/2 Tsp vanilla
1/2 Tsp lemon juice
2 1/2 cup & 2 Tbsp flour
1/2 Tsp baking soda
1 Tsp baking powder
1/4 Tsp salt
1 3/4 cups sugar
Cinnamon sugar mixture

Directions:

Soak poppy seeds in buttermilk for 15 minutes. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks and flavoring. Sift flour with soda, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with butter. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Grease and flour bundt pan well. Put in small amount of batter and sprinkle cinnamon mixture. Add more batter and repeat. Dot top with butter. Bake 40-50 minutes @ 350ºF.

Glaze with thin layer of icing sugar, vanilla and cream (milk)
