There's something therapeutic about mashing ingredients in a bowl. Maybe it's a form of stress relief, or maybe you're taking comfort in the fact that through all the chaos in the world that you have control over this one and only thing... either way, when I first baked this bread, I was pretty soothed. It was an odd smell at first, the smell of raw dough mixed in with the subtle perfume of accomplishment. It left me, however, with a longing for completion, something back then I was unable to do. I had a serious mental block against finishing anything. All of my drawing, my school projects, my essays reeked of unfinished stench. Oddly enough, this bread was something I could do. Maybe it was because it was only an hour long to finish, but it was refreshing nonetheless. When I finally popped the bread into the oven, I myself leaned against it, letting my back gently rest on the warm front. The time flew by as I daydreamed, thinking of dinosaurs and my next final and the like, the timer went off after what seemed 10 minutes. As I opened the door, the room filled with a calming air, gently cloaking all in reach. I had an amazing time baking this bread, and even though my memory sounds kind of cheesy, it was all worth it to enjoy some mouth-watering, moist banana nut bread.
