2c. cake flour
1/2tsp. cinnamon
1/2tsp. salt
1/2tsp. baking powder
1/4tsp. cloves
1tsp. baking powder
1/2c. shortening
1 egg
1c. sugar
1c. unsweetened applesauce

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together the flour, cinnamon, cloves, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Beat in the shortening. Gradually add the sugar, beating all the time. Beat until light and fluffy. Add well beaten egg to creamed mixture. Add sifted flour mixture alternately with the applesauce. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Drop cookie batter from spoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375º oven for 15 minutes. Remove from baking sheet and cool on a wire rack.
