1 lb. pitted dates
1 tsp. baking soda
2 large eggs
5 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 c. chopped nuts
1 stick butter
1 Tbs. vanilla
2 c. boiling water
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Chop dates and mix with baking soda. Add butter. Pour boiling water over mixture. Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla together and add to mixture, beating thoroughly. Add flour and nuts. Bake in angel food cake pan that has been greased and lined with wax paper. Bake 1 hour 25 min. at 325º.
